ABOUT
Breathing New Life into the Old
At CHUEMON, we have spent the past 100 years in Hamamatsu nurturing a culture of attire through kimono.
In Japan today, it is estimated that over 3 trillion yen worth of kimono are discarded annually,
and more than 30 million kimono remain untouched in closets across the country,
a figure that is expected to keep increasing.
What we value most is passing on the beauty of kimono,
entrusted to us by the past, into the future.
Through the stories that begin with a single kimono,
we aspire to become a presence that “adorns individuals,” “enriches daily life,” and “colors our communities.”
Together, we are creating a future that we can proudly pass on to our children.
About Us
For a century, we have been dedicated to the business of recycling kimonos,
and we has been committed to preserving the legacy of Japanese kimonos.
As the disposal of kimonos has become a growing concern,
we have taken on the challenge of giving these garments a second life.
We will showcase the timeless beauty and craftsmanship of each kimono. ? ?
